With a variety of vocations to choose from, how are we to know where God is calling us?

The most important aspect of any person's discernment is an encounter with Jesus through prayer. Prayer is a conversation with Our Lord and an opportunity to open up without fear, anxiety or concern of embarrassment. During these encounters ask God to show you which vocation he is calling you too and then be open to where the Holy Spirit leads you.
Once you have built a strong prayer life and have begun to feel an initial call to a specific vocation your next step should be to find out more about that particular vocation from your local pastor, vocations director or even your local bishop or abbot!
Finally, you should talk with your parents, spiritual director or your parish priest about your calling and invite them to give you open advice about it. The Church is always ready to accompany you on this journey!
